MEDIA RELEASE

HAWKESBURY — On October 28th, the Hawkesbury & District General Hospital (HGH) inaugurated its new Mental Health and Addiction Regional Centre (MHARC). The event was held in the presence of the Honourable Bob Chiarelli, Minister of Infrastructure; Grant Crack, MPP, Glengarry-Prescott-Russell; Guy Desjardins, Warden of the United Counties of Prescott-Russell and many other dignitaries and healthcare partners.

The MHARC brings together HGH’s community mental health and addiction services previously offered in four different offices in Hawkesbury. The Centre provides services for people and their loved ones experiencing situations such as depression, stress, anxiety, trauma or grief. The workers may also help people going through a crisis or living with schizophrenia or dementia, addiction and gambling problems, domestic violence, relationship problems or any other life-disturbing situation.

The Centre is a three-storey building designed to meet clients’ specific needs. It features a welcoming, modern and bright environment as well as the latest informatics and communication technologies. Located on Spence Avenue, close to HGH, the Centre facilitates the transition of clients between community programs and the hospital’s inpatients and emergency services.
