New building for mental health programs

Hawkesbury – Hawkesbury & District General Hospital (HGH) announced today the beginning of construction of a new purpose-built facility in Hawkesbury for the relocation of its regional community mental health and addictions program.

The new building will be strategically located in the vicinity of HGH’s main campus. For this project, HGH has partnered with ASCO Real Estate and Construction Inc., acting as the owner and developer of the building.

Quick facts

  • The new purpose-built facility will provide 30,000 square feet across three floors.
  • The new building will allow the consolidation of services currently operating in satellite centres in Hawkesbury.
  • Patients and families will have improved access to hospital-based services given the proximity to HGH’s main campus.
  • HGH regional mental health and addictions services will become “best-in-class” in delivering quality care in a warm, welcoming and modern environment with new informatics, security and communications technologies.
  • HGH’s regional mental health and addictions services include a dedicated team of professionals (i.e. psychotherapists, psychiatrists, social workers and counselors) providing services in addiction, crisis, geriatric-psychiatry, mental health and assertive treatments.
  • Occupancy is forecasted for the summer of 2016.

The Hawkesbury & District General Hospital Board of Directors approved the consolidation and relocation of its regional community mental health and addictions programs at the June 24th, 2015 regular meeting of the Board of Directors.
