The Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) is looking for a full-time RCPSC-certified Gastroenterologist to join its dynamic team to provide inpatient and outpatient general gastroenterology (GI) and hepatology. Subspecialty GI training through a recognized hepatology fellowship program is an asset.

HGH is a family and patient-centred bilingual regional hospital. We provide essential services to the residents of Prescott-Russell and the  surrounding region. As the majority of the population we serve is francophone, fluency in both French and English is a requirement.

Clinical Setting and Duties

Our team is currently composed of one full-time Gastroenterologist. We work in collaboration with the HGH General Surgery group composed of four general surgeons and The Ottawa Hospital Gastroenterology group.

  • HGH provides attractive benefits such as no overhead expenses for administrative support (shared endoscopy and clinic scheduling clerk) and ambulatory clinic resources with dedicated nursing for patient rooming. In addition, we provide the opportunity to work in our state-of-the-art, newly constructed ambulatory care building.
  • HGH has 2 state-of-the-art, newly built endoscopy suites that function 5 days per week within our operating room.
  • Endoscopy time includes 2 days per week.
  • A minimum of 2 clinic days are available per week.
  • On-call requirements include weekday, daytime inpatient GI consult service. We require on-call coverage for roughly one weekend every 5 weeks and weeknight on-call availability with frequency to be negotiated. No general internal medicine call is required.

Qualifications

  • Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Gastroenterology
  • Independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Coverage from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
