The Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) is looking for a part-time Psychiatrist to join its dynamic Mental Health and Addictions team.
HGH is a family and patient-centred bilingual regional hospital. We provide essential services to the residents of Prescott-Russell and the surrounding region. As the majority of the population we serve is francophone, fluency in both French and English is a requirement.

Clinical Setting and Duties
The HGH Mental Health and Addictions department receives more than 10,000 visits per year. It is recognized for its excellence, its energy, and the diversity of care delivered by its multi-disciplinary team.
The care team includes six psychiatrists, one general practitioner with addiction’s certification, as well as a group of geriatric psychiatrists in collaboration with the Royal Outreach Program.
- The psychiatrist provides outpatient care for the brief psychiatric intervention program, which includes the full spectrum of diagnoses, for example, mood, anxiety, psychosis etc.
- Most of the work is done in person with a percentage that can be done virtually depending on personal preference.

The Mental Health and Addiction Regional Centre offer a wide range of services including intake, a crisis team, addiction services, adult mental health, geriatric psychiatry, Assertive Community Treatment Team, and a walk-in clinic. Multidisciplinary work and care plans are encouraged with the many different professionals such as navigators, crisis team works, addiction counsellors, nurses, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, psychologists, social workers, and peer support workers etc.
Qualifications
- Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent qualification
- Independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Experience with evidence-based psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic approaches suitable for outpatient care
- Skilled in working on multidisciplinary teams, and be open to an environment where continuous quality improvement is a key feature of the daily work
