HAWKESBURY — The new Mental Health and Addiction Regional Centre (MHARC) will open its doors on July 11, at 580 Spence Avenue in Hawkesbury. The centre will bring together community mental health and addiction services currently offered by Hawkesbury & District General Hospital (HGH) in four satellite centres in Hawkesbury.
The following programs will be relocated to MHARC: Mental Health Treatment, Geriatric Psychiatry Service, Addiction Services and Crisis Team. The telephone number to contact MHARC is 1-844-304-1414. Casselman and Clarence-Rockland satellite centres will continue to provide the same services for their clients.
The MHARC is a new three-storey building designed to meet specific client needs. The environment is welcoming and modern and features new informatics, security and communication technologies. The facility includes several types of rooms for group sessions, individual therapy and psychological test, as well as family rooms and telemedicine.
The new centre will improve access to services for patients and their families and facilitate the transition between community-based programs and hospital-based services. The mental health and addiction community services team includes dedicated professionals such as psychotherapists, psychiatrists, social workers and counsellors. Quotes:
Mr. François Bertrand, Chair of Hawkesbury & District General Hospital Board of Directors
“The opening of the new Mental Health and Addiction Regional Centre is an important phase in the improvement of access to services for the residents of Prescott-Russell. It is also a turning point in the integration of community-based mental health and addiction services.”
Mr. Marc LeBoutillier, Chief Executive Officer of Hawkesbury & District General Hospital
Over the last eighteen months, we have completed the construction of the new Mental Health and Addiction Regional Centre. This project was carried out independently by the hospital and without external funding. We can be proud of this bold and innovative project. Our community will be better served and our mental health and addiction program will be justifiably recognized as a centre of excellence.
