In March 2025, the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) Foundation turned an important page in its history with the conclusion of its major campaign, “There’s No Place Like Home.”
Launched in 2020 to address the growing healthcare needs of our community, this campaign went far beyond a traditional fundraising initiative. It became a true movement of solidarity, rooted in compassion and driven by a deeply held belief: everyone deserves access to high-quality care close to home, especially when facing health challenges.
Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of our donors, partners, and volunteers, the campaign raised more than $2.9 million. These funds made a direct and tangible contribution to improving access to specialized care at HGH, benefiting the entire regional population.
Mission accomplished thanks to you
Funds raised through the There’s No Place Like Home campaign supported the acquisition of essential medical equipment and the expansion of key services, including:
- Orthopedic services: $350,000
- Ophthalmology services: $700,000
- Advanced (3D) mammography: $830,000
- Urology services (lithotripsy and cystoscopy): $300,000
- Endoscopy services: $400,000
- C-ARM imaging unit (urology and orthopedics): $134,000
These concrete investments now allow more patients to receive specialized care right here in Hawkesbury, reducing travel to larger centers and improving the overall experience for patients and their families.
About the funded equipment
Lithotripsy – Kidney stone treatment
Lithotripsy equipment allows kidney stones to be treated in a less invasive way, reducing pain, the risk of complications, and the length of hospital stays. Thanks to this technology, patients can now receive this type of treatment at HGH, closer to home.
C-ARM imaging unit – Urology and orthopedic surgery
The C-ARM is a mobile imaging unit that is essential during many surgical procedures. It provides highly precise, real-time imaging, enhancing safety, efficiency, and quality outcomes in both urology and orthopedics.
Ophthalmology equipment
New ophthalmology equipment significantly enhances diagnostic and treatment capabilities for eye diseases. It plays a vital role in preserving vision and quality of life for patients in our region.
3D mammography – Early detection of breast cancer
The new 3D mammography unit improves the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer. It identifies abnormalities earlier and with greater accuracy than traditional mammography. This technology provides more detailed imaging of breast tissue, reduces the need for callbacks and additional exams, and improves the overall patient experience.
Although this campaign has now come to an end, the HGH Foundation’s commitment to its community remains stronger than ever—ensuring that quality care continues to be accessible today and for generations to come.
