MEDIA RELEASE
Have you received health care at the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) in the past two years? Do you have ideas for improving the delivery of patient care and services? If so, HGH invites you to become a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC).
The PFAC was created in November 2016 with the mandate of partnering with hospital staff and leaders to improve the patient experience. The main advisors’ role is to advocate for patient and family needs. In a patient-centred care delivery approach, HGH recognizes patients as experts in their own care needs. Through recommendations, the council may shape policies and decisions, and bring improvements to hospital operations.
The Advisory Council meets four times a year and members may review specific issues through subcommittees. The council recently made recommendations on the Patient Guide content, the Patient Relations policy and the annual Quality Improvement Plan.
HGH now hopes to recruit new PFAC members. To become an advisor, you should have experienced patient care at HGH within the past two years, either as a patient or a patient’s family member. Ideal candidates are also bilingual and open to sharing their experiences and ideas in a constructive and collaborative way. If you wish to help your hospital in meeting the needs and priorities of the community, please apply to become a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council by November 30th. Download the Application form (PDF).
For more information, please visit the PFAC page. You may also contact HGH Patient Relations by email at patientrelations@hgh.ca or call 613-632-1111, extension 62050.
