New Walk-In Counselling Clinic

The HGH Mental Health and Addiction Department is now offering fast and easy access to walk-in counselling services.

Individuals aged 16 or over can get a single-session therapy with a psychotherapist, and no appointment or referrals are needed.

In the single-session approach to therapy, the professional helps the client by working with their own strengths to plan a way to deal with an issue. In many cases, a single session is enough for the client to take a step in the direction where they want to move. At the end of the session, if the client and the therapist feel that there is a need for a longer-term therapy, they will be referred to another program.

Clients in need of someone to talk to about life’s challenges in a non-judgmental way may come in or call to speak with a trained professional counsellor. Clients can discuss a broad range of issues, for example parenting or marital conflict, separation, grief, job-related stress, depression, anxiety, addictions, gender identity, sexual assault, or any other difficult situation.

The new Walk-In Counselling Clinic is offered every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Mental Health and Addiction Regional Centre located at 580 Spence Avenue in Hawkesbury. For telephone counselling, the number to call is 1-844-304-1414, option 2.

The clinic will be closed on Wednesday December 30, 2020.
